Mit dem Titel von Tina Satters Drama ist nicht nur die moderne Lebensrealität gemeint, praktischerweise heißt die Protagonisten auch so: Reality Winner – was für ein Name. Der Fall Winner schlug während der Amtszeit Donald Trumps gerade in Amerika große Wellen. Winner, Übersetzerin für einen US-Informationsdienst, leakte Daten über russische Wahlmanipulation bei der Präsidentschaftswahl 2016. Dafür erhielt Winner eine Freiheitsstrafe von für einen derartigen Fall nie da gewesener Härte. Wie das FBI sie verhaftete, ist auf Band festgehalten und transkribiert. Regisseurin Satter machte daraus erst ein Bühnenstück und nun ihr Spielfilmdebüt. Der besondere Kniff: Jedes Wort ist 1 zu 1 übernommen.

Denn so leichtfüßig Hùng diesen wie Sonnenlicht durch Gärten, Salons und Geschirr fließenden Film anlegt, so bittersüß ist der Kern. Dodins Hingabe zum Kochen spiegelt sich in der Hingabe zu Eugenie. Der Begriff des Rituellen war nicht grundlos genannt, ist es doch das, worum es geht. Nur oberflächlich geht es um Ästhetizismus, viel tiefergehend wird das Performative des Kochens hier als poetische, wenn nicht gar religiös-spirituelle Zelebrierung gesehen, wenn man die titelgebende Passion so interpretieren mag.
